This information is intended to be read in conjunction with Credit for Prior Learning in the Education of Registered Nurses.
In China, nursing courses may be conducted at secondary school, post-secondary vocational level or university level. In order to avoid challenges to decisions about credit for prior study, it should be presumed that a course was undertaken at the lower level unless it can be demonstrated otherwise.
Universities accepted by the Nurses and Midwives Board as being at the standard of Australian universities are those listed by AEI-NOOSR as "quality degree-granting institutions" in China. The following are identified but it has not been confirmed that all the named universities actually conduct nursing courses at the right level or with content appropriate to achievement of the Australian National Competency Standards.
Institutions of the same or similar names exist in both the People's Republic of China and Taiwan and care must be taken not to confuse them. For example there are institutions named "China Medical University" in each country. While the one in Taiwan is a "Higher Education, Section 1" institution, the one in the People's Republic of China is not listed below.
